FAMILY TIME

Tom, Cathy, Jenn and I enjoyed dinner together in his room tonight.  Cathy is impressed with how much better Tom looks.  The last time she saw him he was still in CCU.  Now he is sitting in a chair and walking with a walker.

We have a great nurse who printed out all of his numbers for us so we've got those entered into the spreadsheet.  His kidney numbers are changing just slightly so that's good.  His ammonia level is really elevated and his white blood cell count has been up the past 5 days but appears to be starting to come down.  His bilirubin is indeed coming down so that's exciting.  I would love to find out what the doctors think about the ammonia and WBC numbers.  Hopefully I'll catch at least one of them in the morning.

That's about all that's going on here.  We're still praying that Tom's numbers continue to move into the normal ranges - they are all still quite a bit outside normal but if we can get them all moving in the right direction, we can think about moving out of here!

  1. Well, this HAS been an eventful day. Maybe my "pep talk" Sunday with Tom about needing 17 steps to go home took root. It is so-o-o-o hard. He's right, everything hurts. When that happens to me, I find myself pushing down hard on the walker, and that makes it all the harder. Light pressure on the walker works MUCH better. Glad to hear that the "Mercier Trio" made it up there. Bet you're happy for some back-up too!

    Love,
    Dad
