Day 10 in CCU

This is Debbie writing the morning post for Jeanne as Tom has been requesting Jeanne's company. Tom's weekend nurse has been most helpful this morning. She allowed both Jeanne and I to ask numerous questions and she answered with an understanding and discerning heart. The specific issues we are looking at that are keeping Tom in critical care are his ammonia level and his liver enzymes. Both of these levels are coming down slowly, however, they are still extremely high compared to the optimal levels.  Tom remains very tired. He is sleeping alot, but when he is awake he is talking and answering questions just like our Tom. Tom's white blood cell count has gone back up and his nurse mentioned that the Dr's are hoping to perform a laparoscopy this week to locate the actual site of the infection. We are praying that this happens. Both Cathy and Jeanne had a bit trouble sleeping last night in the CCU waiting room. After a little talk, Cathy and I got Jeanne to consent to spending the night at home tonight. Those of you who know Jeanne know that she is a caring and compassionate person. She has been an attentive wife and friend to Tom. She wants to make certain is he is not in need of anything. This makes her consenting to go home much harder. Please pray that she does sleep at home tonight and sleeps well.
Please pray that Tom's ammonia level and liver enzymes continue to come down, and pray for Jeanne to stay well as she is burning the candle at all possible ends.
