Two steps

It doesn't sound like much but it's a big deal when you've been flat on your back for so long. Tom's doctor is putting pressure on the case manager to get him moved out of here as soon as possible! Vanderbilt Stallworth rehab came by for an evaluation at lunch but they are a high- intensity place and I don't think they feel Tom is quite ready for that. She did say that after a few weeks in a skilled nursing facility that we can call her and request a transfer and a lot of times they can do that. Tom's WBC is down to 14 today and his creatinine is down to 1.1. In addition to the physical they this morning, his wound vac has already been changed too. He's eating a lite lunch and will probably be ready for a nap this afternoon. I'd like a nap too. The wound vac pump caused problems again last night. Right as we started our nice dinner, they came in and ended up replacing part of the dressing on Tom's leg. An hour later, we were trying to enjoy our cold dinner. I didn't get home until 9:15 so by the time I got all the chores done, it was getting pretty late. I told Tom we needed to plan to eat at 6 since that is during shift change and they don't respond even if we need something. Maybe then we won't be interrupted. One of the questions I had for the wound vac team was how to reinforce the dressing. Maybe we'll wait see how it does once Tom is more mobile and talk to the rehab nurses about it. Thanks for all your cards and emails. They are so encouraging and really help us get through this day by day!
