Minor surgery

Tom will be going back to surgery sometime today so they can clean his wound more and put in a wound vac which will help it heal from the inside. They will keep it in as long as necessary. I'm glad they have something to help with healing because in Tom's weakened state, it takes even a minor scrape weeks to heal. This is one of the reasons they kept him on the vent. Once the wound vac is in place, they will hopefully be able to wean him off the pressers and vent. Tom wrinkled his forehead and tried to open his eyes when he heard Dr. Rutland's voice. Dr. Rutland said he's not on much lasix at all. His kidneys are doing well and he's surprised but pleased about that. He said if they were going to react negatively to the pressers, they probably would have done it already so I'm happy to know that. Once they get him stable, they will increase the lasix and give him albumin which will help with the swelling. Thomas removed his arm bands because they were getting tight - they irritate Tom anyway. Thomas just told me they will do a bedside clean and wound vac placement between 2:30 and 3:30 today so no trip back to surgery! I don't know how long it will take. I'll send an update later today.
