A regular room

Well, we're in a regular room now - it's not as nice as the room we had last time but on the same floor.  This room is about half the size.  The very kind charge nurse said if they discharge someone on the other side of the hall tomorrow they will move Tom into a larger room.  This one has no shower - just a tub - which doesn't work well for Tom at all.

Tom continues to receive IV antibiotics and probably some fluids.  He is still dehydrated.  The doctors have not determined a source of the infection yet.  I think he'll be here a few days.  His white blood cell count is down a little today though so at least there is improvement.  He is still getting the Thyroid medicine too.

He is allowed regular food and as much fluid as he can drink although he still feels full after a few bites or a few sips of water.  I'm trying to encourage him to get up and walk so he doesn't lose all of the progress he's made with physical therapy.  We brought the walker so he has that if he needs it.  I don't know if there are orders for physical therapy from the hospital - I don't dare mention it in front of Tom :-)

The nurses are all impressed with how well Tom looks - even though he is back in the hospital.  I must say it is a relief that he is in much better shape on this visit.  It really helps with his care and I don't feel like I have to spend quite as much time at the hospital.

So, we're dealing with it.  God has been good to us.  Hopefully the doctors and the medicine will take care of whatever is wrong - quickly and painlessly!

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers.
